Smooth reel, cool little kit. I catch about 20 - 30 crappies every day at lunch time. That's my therapy so I don't kill anyone. It fits right in my glove box & I highly recommend it. The CEO is a pleasure to do biz with. Tell him Jimbo sent you.

I have been using this for a few years now. The FD100 is a very sturdy reel, the Extreme pen rod is cool, but not as cool as the Goliath. I read the directions but there is too many "Don't do this & don't do that" rules. I don't like rules & don't like to follow them either. I guess if I followed the directions I'd be a happier camper but aint nobody got time for that. Overall, I would recommend the larger pen rods for fishing with & pair it with this reel. This reel is like a tank! Keep a loose drag & follow the CEO's directions if you want to be successful.

Really fun product. I use this more than the rest of my gear now. Only downside is when I use nanofil, it will sometimes reel the line around the drag nob, this causes a birds nest and I have to cut this pretty expensive line off. However, the manufacturer suggests ONLY use 2, 4 or 6lb mono-filament line because it stretches. NO braided, NO nanofil & NO fluorocarbon!!

I like the portability. I hear great things about the Goliath. Next time I will try that one.

So far this is the best reel available for a pen fishing rod anywhere in the world. It comes with an aluminum spool, an extra graphite spool, 2 drag dials & footing expanders to fit on larger poles. Can you say compact? :)

It has 1 aluminum spool, 1 backup graphite spool, 2 enlarged reel seat extensions to put on the footings so it fits on a larger rod. What more can you ask for??
